Two Gardens

The Garden of Gethsemane is the other bookend to the Garden of Eden. In both places, choices had to be made regarding trusting in God's perfect plan.

In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve chose to ignore God and followed their own desires and wrecked humanity as a result. Wave after wave of brokenness has poured out over history and now we have inherited the devastation of their rebellion.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus, God’s own son was faced with a similar choice: to obey God (and bring restoration to humanity) or walk away (and avoid the indescribable brutality he would have to bear on our behalf).

Unlike Adam and Eve, Jesus chose to obey.

When he uttered the words, "Not my will but yours be done," Heaven fell silent for it knew the horrific price about to be paid. BUT those same words sent a roaring tremor of panic through the halls of Hell. As all eyes in the spiritual world focused on that small garden, every angel of light and demon of darkness knew at that moment that God was going to have the final say.

Take some time today to thank Jesus for the choice he made.
