The Greatest Commandment

Jesus said the greatest commandment was to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” - Matthew 22:37.

God tells us that we are to love Him with everything we are. Every thought, every word, every action should be an expression of our love for Him.

That's quite an ask. Are we even capable of that kind of devotion? How could you even begin to stir up that kind of response? What if we don't have that kind of love in us? From where would it come?

Have you considered that God loves you the very same way? Can you imagine the Creator of the universe loving you with all of His heart and with all of His soul and with all of His mind?

He does.

There has never been a moment when you have not been in His heart and on His mind. He is completely and wildly in love with you. Yes, He knows every refusal, resistance, rejection, and rebellion that has ever raged within you. He is aware of every time you turned your back on Him and walked away. But that has never caused the weight of His passion and love for you to decrease by even a grain of sand. It’s out of His unconditional love and devotion that He pursues you as a Father pursues a missing child. The difference is that He knows right where you are, what you are feeling, and what you need.

Loving God with all of your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your mind begins with accepting that He loves you with all of His heart and with all of His soul and with all of His mind. No matter what. There's nothing you have done, are doing, or will do that can cause His love to lessen.

So why not open yourself up (even a little) to the reality that you are fully-known and fully-loved by the very One who made you. It will change everything for you, and the life ahead of you will become more than you could imagine.
