As Christians, we all lose steam and get stuck at one time or another. The Christian journey can easily get bogged down with busyness, distraction, and neglect. Don't feel bad, it happens to every single one of us.
If you have lost your momentum, let me encourage you with some things that seem to work for me when I get stuck:
1.) Dig through your old CDs or vinyls, and listen to the songs you sang when you first came to know Christ. Find those artists and songs you first heard as a new Christian on iTunes, Spotify, or wherever and let the music awaken the hibernating excitement you experienced as a new follower of Jesus.
It's wonderful how the music reminds you of people, places, and moments that fed your new-found faith. Give thanks to God for those friends and events that encouraged and challenged you.
2.) Tell your story to friends who have never heard how you came to know Jesus. You'll be surprised how interested they will be.
3.) Read a Gospel from beginning to end in one sitting. Read it through the eyes of someone who has never experienced the story of Jesus before.
4.) As you are doing any of the above, ask the Lord to renew your joy and the sense of wonder and adventure he desires for you to experience. He will do it if you let him.
God's mercies are new every morning. Every single day you and I get a "do- over." We all get stuck, but we don't have to stay there.
