Whenever someone contacts Cast Member Church, they often have a question or two about who we are, what we do, how we do it, and why we do it that way. Below you will find the answers to the most common questions that are asked.

IS CAST MEMBER CHURCH FOR DISNEY CAST MEMBERS ONLY?

 

The short answer is “yes.” The long answer is that the CM culture is unique, so we are designed for and dedicated exclusively to that context. We do our best to provide a safe environment for Cast Members to be vulnerable and transparent with God and with each other. Whatever is shared in a Communi-D is shared in confidence. For that reason, we limit our ministry to those who are working for The Walt Disney Company.

IS CAST MEMBER CHURCH PART OF THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY?

 

Even though The Walt Disney Company is aware of our presence, we are not associated with, endorsed, or supported by it or any of its subsidiaries.

WHERE AND WHAT TIME ARE YOUR WORSHIP SERVICES?

 

We do not offer a weekly worship service. And that’s intentional. Instead, we have developed an innovative vehicle for spiritual maturity. It's called a "Communi-D," and we have many spread across the globe.

WHAT IS A COMMUNI-D?

 

A Communi-D meets together online (via Zoom) several times each week. All of our Communi-Ds are “families” of CMs who covenant with each other to love as Jesus loves—without condition or prerequisite—and being willing to give up comfort, credibility, and convenience for the sake of others so they may also know the hope of Jesus. For this reason, our CommuniDs choose to invest their time with and in each other...as a healthy family would.

WHAT IS A COMMUNI-D EXPERIENCE LIKE?

Our Communi-Ds often share experiences from the day, talk about life from a Biblical perspective, pray together, learn from the insights and frustrations of others, and seek encouragement and challenge from one another. All of this is done so that we may deepen our love for Jesus (FAITH), deepen our love for our CMC family (TRUST), and deepen our love for every person we encounter in the Cast Member culture (PIXIE DUST) and beyond.

Each Communi-D has a unique personality and rhythm for gathering. Some are time zone-specific, such as the UK, or Germany/Italy. Others might be a combination of CMs from different locations, such as some from Orlando with some from Hong Kong. It simply depends upon which CommuniD is the best fit.

IF YOU DON'T OFFER WORSHIP SERVICES, ARE YOU REALLY A CHURCH?

 

We certainly hope so. From the beginning, we have used the book of Acts as a foundation for our form and function. Like the two rails on a strand of DNA, CMC has two focuses:

 

1.) Those who do not have a relationship with Jesus.

 

2.) Those who want to have a Kingdom Influence among those who do not have a relationship with Jesus.

 

This is why a Communi-D is far more fruitful than a weekend gathering. Our experience has revealed that those with no faith background are intrigued––even attracted––to the more relational, "raw Christianity" approach we have chosen to pursue.

WHAT IS YOUR THEOLOGICAL SLANT?

 

We believe the Bible to be the Word of God, and therefore we trust it to be our source for guidance and application to every aspect of our lives. Our theology (what we believe) never changes because the Bible never changes. We are a member of the Evangelical Free Church of America. Our methodology (how we function) is always in flux. The Disney and CM cultures are always changing. As a church, we must be willing to shift with them. Cast Member Church may function one way this year but might look a little different next year. We are always learning new forms and functions to be a fruitful Kingdom Influence in the cultural context of Disney.

 

We trust Jesus to give us the wisdom to navigate these shifts without ever compromising our faith. We choose to be flexible to interact with as many CMs as possible, giving them every opportunity to see Jesus revealed in us and through us.
